Honey Basil Cookies

This recipe is from Brae Maple Farm, a MOFGA  Certified Organic grower of plants and produce who has been a member of Camden Farmers’ Market for many years. Originally published in our July 28, 2016 Newsletter

1cup butter ,softened
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
2T honey
1T chopped fresh basil
2tsp finely shredded orange peel
1tsp vanilla
3cups flour
Sugar

– Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl beat butter with mixer for 30 seconds. Add 2/3 cup sugar. Beat until combined. Beat in egg ,honey,orange peel, and vanilla until combined. Beat in flour.
– Place additional sugar in shallow bowl. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Dip bottom of glass into sugar and flatten balls to 1/4 inch thickness.
-bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned.
